Mamma Mia!
As requested, this post is about Mamma Mia.
I wasn't as excited as some about the show but at the end - it was FANTASTIC!
Wish I could go again and take my daughter along. She would love it.
We met Sierra, Andrea, Pn Tan Kok Suan and Pn Lim Ah Kiek. Of course there were a lot of others there - some dressed to a Tee, some totally dressed down, a lot of Datins, Puan Sris and others who were hoping to look like a dignitary. LOL.
But the session started on time (more or less) but they weren't as strict as overseas as latecomers were admitted and caused some ruckus.
The beginning was very dramatic - just super loud music coming from below the stage and somebody I know fell in love with the drummer - Chris Maitland.
Then it began. The props were dead simple with only two main items which spun around to create different scenes - the beach, the tavern, the patio and even the bedrooms. Cool. The sound system was gr8 - no mic in sight and yet loud. Sophie sang well, Skye a bit pitchy, Tanya can't dance and Harry and Sam were good. Donna couldn't quite get all the notes but the music helped drown out her imperfections.
Slightly different from the movie, the musical covered more Abba songs and was even more touching. Guess their acting was superb.
The finale had a lot of us wanting to jump up and dance if not for the boss being around surrounded by other prudes. The costumes were good too - her wedding dress was quite classy. The seating was good but a tad too far to see the actors eyes.
The saddest part was how the memorabilia was so outrageously expensive. Paying 15 for a tiny magnet and 35 for the brochure is a bit much, don't you think?
Having said that, I would go again - any sponsors???
